Jiangsu Medical Products Administration Director pays visit to magAssist

Wang Yue, Director and Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of Jiangsu Medical Products Administration, was on a working visit to magAssist Inc. on May 17, 2021, at Jiangsu Medpark, a leading medical device industrial park in Suzhou New District, Jiangsu Province of East China.

Director Wang and his delegation heard about the R&D and development plan for mid-term and short-term ventricular assist devices (or artificial hearts) from Dr. Po-Lin Hsu, founder, and CEO of magAssist. Artificial hearts have always been referred to as the 'crown jewels' of medical engineering due to their interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary characteristics and their demanding system integration challenges. The MoyoAssist® Extra-VAD developed by magAssist is the first innovation of its kind in China and will fill the gap in the domestic market and tackle pressing clinical needs, bringing China's artificial organ industry and high-end medical equipment innovation to a higher level.

Wang was briefed on the latest projects and product research and inquired about the difficulties innovative medical companies are facing in R&D and industrialization. Both sides also had discussions on product declaration and related laws and regulations. In the end, Wang encouraged companies to utilize the R&D resources available at the Jiangsu Institute of Medical Device Testing, especially China's first Research Center for Usability Testing of Medical Devices, hoping that innovative medical companies could operate in line with the latest international standards while the clinical professionals could provide patients with advanced and tailored services.

Officials from the Jiangsu Medical Products Administration, Suzhou Municipal Medical Products Administration, and Jiangsu Institute of Medical Device Testing were also among the delegation.
