Yueqin Lian on a visit to Suzhou New District

On July 9, 2021, Yueqin Lian, Director of the Office of Taiwan Affairs of Jiangsu Province, paid a visit to Suzhou New District and conducted a special survey on biomedicines, electronic information and related industries. Jun Yang, Director of the Office of Taiwan Affairs of Suzhou City, Changbao Song, Deputy Secretary of the party working committee of Suzhou New District and Head of the United Front Work Department of Suzhou New District, were among the delegation.


Lian and her delegation made their first stop at Yageo Electronics (China) Co., Ltd. and had a tour around the manufacturing department, learned about the manufacturing techniques, fields of applications, the company's development in Suzhou and the difficulties and problems the company has encountered during its operation. The officials encouraged the company to move forward with confidence, step up its pace to renovate technologies to bring the industry to a new level and improve output and efficiency. It is said that Yageo Electronics (China) is among the earliest Taiwan companies to conduct business in the Suzhou New District and has largely invested in the R&D and production of new electronic parts and components, including chip resistors, ceramic chip capacitors and other new chip-type passive electronic components. At present, the company has earmarked another 1.6 billion RMB on its 2-year technical transformation and upgrading project on resistors and capacitors. The project will generate an estimated 1.6 billion RMB of production value each year and will also have significant influence on product optimization, production automation, work efficiency, energy conservation and consumption reduction.


At Xixing (Suzhou) Integrated Circuit Technology Co., Ltd., Lian and her delegation held a panel discussion with staff in charge and heard about the company's work in COVID-19 prevention and control, project development, semiconductor testing services and relevant development plan. Officials encouraged companies to deepen cooperation with universities and research institutes, accelerate industrial transformation and upgrading, and further enhance the capability of independent innovation and R&D, so as to lead the integrated circuit industry in Suzhou New District. Xixing (Suzhou) Integrated Circuit Technology was formed in the economic development zone in Xushuguan Town as an independent supplier of semiconductor encapsulation and testing services. It is also equipped with the most advanced equipment, technologies and production lines.


Suzhou magAssist Inc. was founded in 2017 by Dr. Po-Lin Hsu, a Distinguished Professor at Soochow University, as well as a team from domestically and abroad who have dedicated themselves to the development of artificial hearts. The company’s technology builds upon mechatronics, magnetic levitation, and computational fluid dynamics, and is now developing magnetic levitated artificial heart products. In the future, it will develop platform-based solutions for external life support systems that meet the needs of different populations, support requirements, and clinical scenarios, and serve patients in China and worldwide. Lian and her delegation heard about the introduction to the company’s development and product R&D and had a tour of the manufacturing department. Lian encouraged the company to strengthen its product R&D, and truly prioritize innovation, so as to provide better medical equipment for patients.


During the survey, the delegation also had a panel discussion with companies on how to support the development of biomedicine and electronic information industries and learned about the current difficulties and problems, as well as policy suggestions. She emphasized that the Office of Taiwan Affairs at all levels will improve its services to timely meet the needs and resolve the difficulties facing the companies. She also asked local governments to network with companies to provide better services and beef up the companies’ development.
